Tonights planned meal is:
Zesty Grilled Pork Chops (marinate for 1 - 3 hours)
Green Beans
Crescent Rolls
Here is a picture of all the ingredients needed to make the Zesty Grilled Pork Chops. Cost:
Cayenne Pepper Sauce $.00 The Grocery Game
Lime Juice .20
Brown Sugar .05 The Grocery Game
Garlic .25
All spice .05
Pepper .05
Thyme .20
Pork Chops 3.39
Total Cost 4.19
You can't see it in this picture but the orginal cost of the meat was almost $6. How did I get the meat at such a discount? I bought the meat out of the bin of meats that must be sold by the end of the day. I take the meat right home and throw it in the freezer. Then when it is time to use it I put it in the refrigerator, the day before, and this keeps it from going bad.
The Grocery Game has many opportunities to buy meat but I find most of the time it is chicken. To get other meats into my menus I visit this part of the meat department to get great prices on meats.
Have you ever purchased meat from the bin of discounted meat because of their sell by date? What do you find there that makes your day? If you have never purchased from this bin, why not? I would love to hear from you.
Prep for tomorrow's planned meal; Defrost chicken for our Chicken and Noodles Skillet.

I used to be able to find everything in the mark down bin, but now it just seems to be high end items. I am not going to pay $5 a pound for steak just because it was $7 a pound the day before. The thing I do find that I think is great is ground Amish chicken. No weird stuff in it and it is the best tasting chicken out there. They'll mark it to $.99 a pound :)
They keep running really cheap deals on meat in my area. Pork chops have been running $.99 a pound for bone in and $1.50 for boneless.
I agree that a lot of the meats in the mark down bin can be high end meats. I don't grab those either. (Unless a special event is coming up that I can use it for.)
I still can find some great deals almost every time.
