Sticking to Your Grocery List

When I go grocery shopping I have my list from CarriesCooking with the items I already have on hand marked off. (This week I only have to buy 5 things that I didn't have on hand.) I have The Grocery Game list with the coupons relating to these purchases already pulled, and a list of items that I have marked on my Master Grocery List. Then I also carry all my coupons just encase I have a coupon for something else on my list.

I know it sounds like a lot, but I buy most of my items from The Grocery Game list. And, with all the coupons already pulled for these items it is very easy to run through the store and get everything I need. It is well worth it as buying from these lists keeps my grocery bills well within my budget.

With these lists in hand I find I am less and less tempted to buy things that are not on my list. I do allow myself to buy one thing off the list. I don't purchase off my list often but I find allowing myself that little bit of freedom helps me to stick to the list.

How often do you buy things that are not on your list? Is it because it is on sale, that you forgot to put it on your list, or is it an impulse purchase that you will regret purchasing later?
