I like the taste and price of the non-instant rice, however, I don't like the time it takes to make it. This is why I always have instant rice on hand. But, when I have time to make the real stuff I make a big batch of it. It doesn't take any more time to make rice for 8 vs. 4. Then when done I put the extra rice in freezer safe bags in appropriate serving sizes for my family. Then when it comes time to have rice I can pull it out of the freezer and either boil it in the bag or microwave it. (I have a microwave steamer that I find to be the best reheating option.) It weathers the freezer very well.
