I find that many recipes call for fresh spices. Some of the recipes I have posted call for fresh spices. Since I often cook from food I have on hand, I used to not be able to make the dinners that call for fresh spices. That is before I learned the tip that I am now going to share with you.
For every 1 tablespoon of fresh spices called for use 1 teaspoon of dried spices.
Yes, it is that simple. This has yet to fail me. Although, I will admit I am one that very rarely uses teaspoons and tablespoons, rather I use my palm for measuring. I also am more liberal in spices I like and less in those I don't like as much.
Anyway, don't let recipes that call for fresh spices dissuade you from making a dish that sounds good. Check to see if you have it in dry form and try my conversion.
Let me know if it works for you!
