Preparing Pan For Cooking

It is best to heat the oil in your pan prior to using it to cook your food. Place a small amount of oil on the pan and heat. When warm it is easy to spread the oil in the pan by swirling it around. You can check that the pan is ready by carefully placing a small drop of water on the pan when warm. If the water sizzles, its ready.

I have been using a pastry brush to put oil in my pans. I find that I use less oil this way.
