Throwing Spices Like Rachael Ray

Before I really started to crack down on how much time I watch TV I found time to watch Rachael Ray.  While watching her I thought how great it would be to measure spices using my hand.  I wouldn't have to dig for my always hiding measuring spoons, try to fit those spoons into my spices small mouths, or spill spices when trying to pour them into the spoons.

When I thought about giving it a try I realized it probably didn't matter if I was exact with spices anyway.  As long as I was close the food would still taste good.  I was already putting a smaller amount of spices I didn't like into recipes and larger amounts of some that I liked.  Those recipes always turned out fine.  So, what did I have to worry about.

But, what if I was way off?  I decided to try what I am now going to share with you.  I started by measuring what I thought was the correct amount of the needed spice into my hand.  Before I threw it into the recipe I got out my measuring spoons and scooped the spices into the spoon.  At first I found that I was often putting too little spice in my hand.  Over a short time I began to get very good at pouring the right amount into my hand.

Now the only time I get the measuring spoons out is if I am using baking powder or for some liquids.  Why not give it a try yourself?  Soon you will be throwing spices like Rachael Ray too.
