I use pastry bags for anything but pastries. I use them to fill deviled eggs or my mini muffin pan as a couple of examples. But my pastry bags are simple zip lock bags.
You can just fill a bag, close off the top, and cut a small hole in the bag and use it like you would any other pastry bag. I have some accessories from an old pastry bag. You don't need them to use the bag as a pastry bag. I also suggest that you use a gallon sized bag but this was all I had right now.
